Centre Console and Dash

Thursday, 20 January 2011

The dash was really hard to get out. The main problem involved dropping the steering column. There are two long bolts that hold the column in position and there just wasn't enough room to slip them out. The bolts hit against the AC vent housing. When I got the car I noticed that the clock's adjustment screw was bent and I now know this is from being bent on the steering column when the speedometer was changed. I'm not looking forward to putting the dash back in.

The centre console was also tough to remove. This was mostly because of the fixing screws were seized solid and the heads were rusted or damaged. I had to cut a few off with a Dremel. The hand brake also has to be disconnected and unbolted to get the console out.
